Nasi Padang is Indonesian go-to comfort food when we wanna eat something on budget but with plenty of punchy flavor in every single bite. It usually contains a big portion of fluffy white rice, any protein you can choose from chicken gulai or beef rendang, jackfruit gulai, blanched cassava leaves, and sambal ijo. Lastly, don’t forget to add more gulai sauce since it makes Nasi Padang a reminiscent dish you could die for.\n\nActually, I made this dish in order to join the online audition of Masterchef Indonesia season 9 (just kidding hahahh). Nooo, I’m truly serious but it’s just for fun and nothing to lose. After all, I love all the processes it takes to make every single component of this dish except washing dishes hue :( . For the carbs, I substitute rice with potato disks. On the other hand, I use chicken as my protein and make concentrated gulai sauce from William Gozali’s recipe with a lil adjustment (Check out his youtube channel!). Moreover, I add spring onion powder inspired by Chef Renatta Moeloek’s Opor Ayam recipe and parmesan crisp for additional texture.
